Nexon America today announced the commercial release for their free-to-play FPS Combat Arms. While the game isn't quite at the MMORPG level, it is a persistent world where players gain money for winning matches, which they can then spend to purchase new guns, larger backpacks, and even customize their uniform.
Nexon also announced the inclusion of the Black Market, where players will be able to purchase -- with real world money -- a number of added-value features for the game. Mercenaries, name changes, stat reset cards, and clan emblems will all be available. Nexon plans to add more items in the months ahead to both the basic in-game shop as well as the Black Market.
“Combat Arms had a
great beta run, with players of all levels loving the fast-action FPS game play
and in-game community features for ranking and challenging other
players,” said Min Kim, vice president of marketing for Nexon America.
“With this launch, gamers now have access to additional play options that
help the player stand out without compromising the fairness of play.”
While Combat Arms is free-to-play, its graphics are on par with many retail games on the market today. We've been playing it for a while now in beta here at Curse, and so far we think it's pretty fun. It's definitely worth checking out if you want a game you can jump into fast and kill some time between grind sessions in your current MMO.
